Giants to sit Manning vs. Dolphins
Ben McAdoo doesn’t need to watch Eli Manning in the Giants’ preseason opener to know what his franchise quarterback can do.

The New York Giants host the Miami Dolphins in Week 1 of the National Football League preseason on Friday, August 12 start time is at 7:00 PM ET, at MetLife Stadium. All of the others are due to injuries; Manning is a coach’s decision.
“I made the decision not to play Eli tonight”, McAdoo said in a statement released late Friday morning by the team. “And that starts tonight”, McAdoo added. “We will also get [former Dolphins QB] Logan [Thomas] some work, as well”.
“He doesn’t have Manning’ s size (Nassib is 6’2′, Manning is 6’4”) or arm strength but is considered to be a more accurate passer than Thomas, who was claimed off waivers in June after spending last season with the Dolphins. It is not uncommon for teams with established starting quarterbacks to keep them out of the preseason opener.
Joining Manning on the sideline will be several injured players: WR Victor Cruz (groin), LB Keenan Robinson (groin) and DE Kerry Wynn (groin). They look as if they’re going to receive plenty of playing time this season.

Additionally, linebacker J.T. Thomas (hamstring) and defensive tackle Jay Bromley (ankle) remain on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list and will obviously not play.
