Last night, the Washington Nationals got another great pitching performance from Max Scherzer against the Cleveland Indians.

Bauer (8-5) pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and two walks while striking out four.
The Indians played without Manager Terry Francona, who complained of chest pain while speaking to reporters before the game. Bench coach Brad Mills filled in.
BOSTON – Rick Porcello continued to dominate at Fenway Park with eight solid innings, Matt Barnes cleaned up a mess created by closer Craig Kimbrel and Boston held on to beat NY.
Porcello allowed two runs and struck out six. The homer was the league-high 27th Tomlin has yielded and Werth’s 15th.
Luis Severino (1-7) allowed five runs and seven hits over 4 1/3 innings. It was his first start since being demoted to the minors in May.
PITTSBURGH – Gregory Polanco hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the fifth inning and Pittsburgh turned two misplays by the San Diego infield into four runs.
Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco passed his US citizenship test last week, which was cause for celebration.
Werth hit a three-run homer off Josh Tomlin in the second inning but takes more pride in getting on base than anything else.
When he returns, Francona has the Indians well-positioned to challenge for a World Series title of their own this season. Jarrod Dyson ran for Morales and stole second and scored on Alcides Escobar’s two-out single.
TORONTO – Evan Longoria had three RBIs, Logan Forsythe added a homer and two RBIs, Drew Smyly pitched six effective innings and Tampa Bay defeated Toronto.
Texas scored four runs in the eighth inning to overrun Colorado and win 7-5.
GIANTS 1, MARLINS 0 Two days after Brandon Crawford battered Miami with seven hits, he beat them with one swing.
Giancarlo Stanton had the go-ahead RBI with a first-inning double that shattered his bat in half.
Mark Melancon pitched the ninth to record his second save in as many opportunities since the Nationals acquired him before the trade deadline.
Indians: RHP Corey Kluber (11-8, 3.22 ERA) starts the series opener in Cleveland against RHP Jhoulys Chacin (3-7, 5.27) and the Los Angeles Angels.
The Dodgers (64-49) are a season-best 15 games over.500 and have won four in a row.
Frazier untied it in the 10th by lining a first pitch offering from Kelvin Herrera over the left-field fence with Jose Abreu and Carlos Sanchez aboard for his 31st home run of the season, which is tied for the American League lead.
Phillies right-hander Vince Velasquez (8-4) has not won in his last five starts. In the finale, he put San Francisco ahead with his 11th homer leading off the fourth.
Kuhl (2-0) allowed two runs and five hits.
Tony Watson earned his third save. In Tuesday’s loss to the Indians, the Nats managed just one run and have now only scored three total runs in their last three games. Mauricio Cabrera pitched the ninth for his third save.
NEXT GAME: Friday at 7:05 against the Braves at Nationals Park. Baker said Harper’s neck was in a spasm and medical personnel hadn’t yet figured out how to alleviate it. LHP Oliver Perez felt a pull in his back before throwing his first pitch but stayed in the game. He didn’t miss a beat one day later, going 4 for 4 with a run and an RBI. Werth then walked before Daniel Murphy whacked an RBI double to chase Tomlin. Ramirez added a run with a single in the ninth. “The first inning, Abe was fighting the sun, turns into a double, that’s the run”.
Holt’s double off Matt Bowman (1-4) broke a 4-all tie. “If it gets to that point, then it does because it will be something that has to happen”.
