The tower is both headquarters to Trump’s campaign and his business empire. Mr Trump also lives there, though he was in Virginia in the afternoon and was heading to Florida for an evening event.
A man from Falls Church, Virginia, climbed Trump Tower in NY using suction cups on Wednesday because he wanted a private meeting with the Republican presidential candidate, officials said.
In a video released online the previous day, the man, who identified himself by the alias, “Leven Thumps”, said that he was doing the stunt in order to get Donald Trump’s attention. The video, uploaded on August 9, depicts a hooded Rogata asking the Republican presidential candidate for an one-on-one meeting to discuss an “important matter”. After almost three hours, NYPD apprehended him and pulled him through a window to safety around the 21st floor.
A Virginia teenager who climbed partway up Trump Tower had a history of problems at home.
Hours after the incident, Trump thanked the NYPD for saving the climber.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Rogata has an attorney. I guarantee that it’s in your interest to honor this request. The climber appeared to resist the maneuver but the officers successfully pulled him in.
He was speaking with officers through the holes cut in the side of the building. “Believe me, if my goal was not significant, I would not risk my life pursuing it”, he says, addressing Trump.
“Hello Mr. Trump. Excuse my matter of appearance, I just don’t know how many people will watch this and I’d rather not be recognizable”.
Michael Joseph Ryan, 19, was taken into police custody after he climbed the building for several hours. Rogata allegedly said he was seeking a “private audience” with Trump.
After multiple attempts to cut off the guy’s path, officers were finally able to grab the man and drag him into the building.
During his ascent, he reportedly dropped a flier that directed people to a YouTube video, which explained why he climbed the tower. He is undergoing a psychological evaluation at Bellevue hospital.

Parts of the building, including the terraces, are open to the public during the day. “I’m 100% certain the NYPD had better things to do”.
