Summer Olympics: Here’s the medal count after Day Six in Rio

The victory moves Kenny level with Sir Bradley Wiggins on four gold medals, with two more also in his sights this summer with keirin and individual sprint events to follow.

Here are some highlights from Friday’s viewing schedule.

The U.S. hopes to hold its lead to rank top for the second Olympics in a row. Only one American – Hyleas Fountain (2008) – has earned a heptathlon medal since 1992. Carli Lloyd, Hope Solo and the USA contingent are coming off a 2-2 draw against Columbia to top Group G. Sweden coach Pia Sundhage skippered the USWNT to gold in 2008 and 2012.

1 p.m.: Americans Brady Ellison and Zach Garrett look for gold in the USA men’s individual event.

A trio of team US swimmers added a trio of gold medals to the nation’s Rio 2016 Olympic medal count on August 11. The 23-year-old was faced with formidable opposition in third seed Elshod Rasulov but sent out a huge statement of intent with a devastating knockout to book his place in the quarter-finals of the men’s light heavyweight competition.

1 p.m.: The U.S. women face off against Italy in the preliminary round.

2 p.m.: Madison Keys swings her way towards gold as she faces Germany’s Angelique Kerber in the singles semifinals.

Gymnastics star Simone Biles did what everyone knew she would do by winning all-around gold (62.198) in the women’s Rio 2016 final by more than two full points.

6 p.m.: Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock team up for mixed doubles against Brazil in the quarterfinal round. NBC, 8 p.m. – 12 a.m. Additionally, current Ole Miss sophomore Raven Saunders will compete for a chance to qualify in women’s shot put.
