The Lions, who lack a true deep threat in their offense since Calvin Johnson retired, converted 8 of 12 third downs in the first half as they methodically moved the ball downfield. Televised on WHP, Channel 21.

Riley Reiff, who moved to right tackle this year to accommodate Decker, joined Stafford, running back Theo Riddick and starting receivers Jones, Boldin and Golden Tate on the sideline after one series.

Ham, an Augustana product, finished with team highs of 12 carries and 35 yards for the Vikings. Instead it’ll be Landry Jones at quarterback for the Steelers and extra reps for the other receivers on the roster like Markus Wheaton and Darrius Heyward-Bey.

Tonight’s Detroit Lions vs Pittsburgh Steelers NFL preseason football game has a start time schedule of 7:00pm eastern time and airs on network TV channels in both local markets, as well as on NFL Network nationally.

The Lions went to the half down 14-13 after scoring the next 10 points on a 28-yard Andre Roberts catch and run from Orlovsky and a 31-yard Prater kick. Orlovsky finished 16 of 25 for 164 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He missed a tackle during the opening drive that led to a 30-yard gain and later committed a 15-yard penalty, but he also snuffed out a screen pass in the red zone that ultimately forces Detroit to settle for a field goal.

Lions: Rafael Bush started at strong safety and is the front-runner for the starting job next to Glover Quin.

Lions: Linebacker Zaviar Gooden suffered a head injury in the third quarter. Grant’s cause was greatly aided by reserve defensive end Ricardo Mathews, who pressured Lions backup quarterback Dan Orlovsky on the play, forcing him into an errant pass.
