Don Mattingly meets with Yasiel Puig about playing time
The L.A. Dodgers placed Puig on waivers, meaning the team could trade Puig to any other team if he were to clear waivers.

The Dodgers outfield situation is quite the logjam, but is the team really trying to get rid of Yasiel Puig?
RF Yasiel Puig has been putting in extra time in the batting cages in an effort to smooth out his swing, but he is still looking for results.
After pulling Puig off waivers, the Dodgers no longer have the option of trading him this season, as a player can only be placed on revocable waivers once per season. This means Los Angeles can not pull him back if he’s claimed by another club the second time around. But it was exactly this steadfast belief in his abilities and aggressive approach that helped pull the Dodgers out of the pit of despair that was their four-game losing streak for a 5-0 victory over the Washington Nationals.
“I’m going to say he’ll be with them next spring, but I don’t think he’s going to be with them long-term because of that frustration…” He labored to get issues straightened out.
Puig stays the Dodgers’ most dynamic expertise – if most recently, it’s most irritating one. The Dodgers struck a couple of deals before the non-waiver deadline, but none involved any of their marquee players/prospects aside from Hector Olivera. “Some teams simply want to gauge the interest in their players”. Puig was purported to be the workforce’s foremost right-handed weapon.

Teams contacted the Dodgers about Puig last month, but it’s possible any offers that were made weren’t to the front office’s liking. “Hopefully that helps get his confidence back, but I’m not sure he ever loses confidence…” Puig is just 24 and is on a very cheap deal based on his talents, as he is making $6 million this season and is only getting paid $24 million more with team control on his deal into 2018 season.
