Leicester City: ET landing more likely than defending title – Claudio Ranieri

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has put pen to paper and signed a new long-term contract with the defending Premier League champions.

Leicester City begin their English Premier League title defence at Hull City this weekend knowing they will have their work cut out to upstage the big clubs again following a summer of big spending.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool are just some of the clubs challenging for the title this year and if Leicester want to repeat their heroics they will need Mahrez in their ranks. “It is easier for ET to come to Piccadilly Circus!”. It will make the Premier League so much better for everybody.

“I think the bookies have to pay 6,000/1 now”, he said.

“I’m very proud and I’m very happy because we worked so hard”, he said. I am very curious to see where we finish.

Despite Ranieri’s refusal to entertain the prospect of a Mahrez exit however, it is worth noting that the Algerian is now earning just €35,000 a week and is seemingly uninterested in signing a new contract with the club.

“I work to be safe”, the manager said in a revival of the mantra he used last season when his Foxes were top of the league.

Jamie Vardy signed a new contract with Leicester after turning down a move to Arsenal, which reportedly is interested in winger Riyad Mahrez – another of Leicester’s stars from last season. (Arsenal?) No. Riyad stays with us’.

“Also you have to improve your experience in Champions League”, he added.

Vardy could be joined in attack by new signing Ahmed Musa in Saturday’s Premier League opener against newly promoted Hull City and the Nigeria worldwide, signed from CSKA Moscow, made a favourable early impression with Leicester fans by scoring an impressive double in the 4-2 friendly defeat to Barcelona.

The Foxes will face Hull and will be hoping to continue their success from last season. When there is all this attention around your name, it’s because you are doing well. “Maybe we have to pass the ball a little more often to him. He actually needs to feel that there are other teams and other managers who want him”. I can’t pass the ball from the bench’.

More likely than Leicester winning the title this season
