Trump, RNC reportedly having emergency ‘come to Jesus’ meeting Friday

Fewer than 90 days before the election, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced several offices in OH, but none are in key Hamilton County and many are inside county Republican Party headquarters.

As for key battleground states, Trump’s campaign only has one office in the state of Florida.

But some black Republicans, like Larry Thompson, are not voting for the Republican candidate.

Donald Trump has, to borrow a phrase from Barack Obama, changed the trajectory of the GOP, contended Talking Points Memo’s Josh Marshall in a Thursday post.

But Trump’s name was conspicuous by its absence in a recent email appeal from chairman Matt Borges that said donations would benefit Portman and other Republicans. But Trump has now travelled further down that road with remarks meant to gravely provoke the gun lobby by warning that a Clinton Presidency could lead to a repeal of the Second Amendment which legalises gun ownership.

Penn State College Republicans may have voted to not endorse Donald Trump, but a different student group said it is dedicated to supporting the Republican presidential candidate. He has spent the past three weeks creating news story after news story with decidedly off-message comments – the biggest of which was going after Khizr and Ghazala Khan, Gold Star parents who attacked Trump at the Democratic convention. “Really what they’re anxious about is being politically correct”, Perticone said.

On Tuesday, Trump attempted to brush off an open letter signed by 50 of the GOP’s most experienced national security experts that said he “would be the most reckless President in American history” by painting them as part of the “Washington establishment”.

Trump raised about $80 million in July, with $64 million coming from the joint effort with the RNC.

Asked about the recent reports of RNC defections amid an apparent campaign meltdown, Trump pointed out that his fundraising agreement with the RNC has greatly benefitted the party.

Trump’s hostility towards women, suggesting that those who seek abortions should be punished and that “for a man to be successful he needs support at home…not someone who is always griping and bitching”, has earned him the scorn of many in the GOP. That battle led to many Republicans slamming Trump’s remarks, and Republican Sen.

Trump responded to the letter Thursday night, telling Fox News, “If it is true, that’s okay too because all I have to do is stop funding the Republican Party …”

Democrats have been critical of Trump’s slow-to-organize ground game in the all-important swing state of Ohio.

RNC staffers at the time hoped to get 220 full time field reps in the swing state of OH, but funding came through for only 50 full time positions.

Now, with fewer than 100 days until the election, the question is whether Trump’s “hang back” strategy with his money and advertising will work – allow him to come from behind and win the race.
