Apple rumoured to finally refresh its aging MacBook Pro line

Apple iPhone 7 will launch on September 7, but the company is also planning to refresh its MacBook Pro laptop, which will be first major upgrade since the last four years, says a report in Bloomberg by Mark Gurman, who is known for his accurate Apple scoops.

Apple may be turning back to the Mac line as a way to bolster flagging revenue from the iPad, as Bloomberg notes.

Apple has been at the receiving end of a lot of flack, for their old and outdated Macbooks, which haven’t been upgraded for the past two years. It may also be equipped with a retina display – meaning, display quality will be at 300 pixels or higher per inch. Also, the new notebook is expected to consist of Touch ID fingerprint technology for added security measures. This allows the owner to unlock the device without even typing a password.

Going with these is a more powerful graphics processor, quite possibly Advanced Micro Devices Inc.’s “Polaris” as it matches the thinness (the graphics card is 20% thinner than its predecessor) and power efficiency necessary for a thinner Apple notebook.

USB Type-C, Thunderbolt 3 port is also expected.

The 12-inch MacBook oozes with portability, but heavily sacrifices processing power that you will normally find on MacBook Pro models. This lead to speculations that we might see a stylus-enabled trackpad in the anticipated MacBook Pro that supports its own version of Apple Pencil. At present, only one MacBook Pro uses an AMD GPU, the R9 M370X. This touch strip will replace the physical function buttons and help you control basic functions such as the volume, media and browsing functions. The rumored iPhone 7 is expected to drop the headphone jack, replacing it with a second speaker grill. Apple fans were hoping that the company would be finally introducing an OLED display on the iPhone 7 but the company has shied away from doing so. However, the MacBook Pros aren’t likely to launch at an iPhone event due next month, confirming earlier reports that said that the laptops are scheduled to release in the fourth quarter of the year.
