LeBron James re-signs with Cleveland Cavaliers
Since rejoining the Cavs from the Miami Heat in 2014, James has been working to one-year contracts but opted for a longer deal after winning a maiden title with the team last season. But it’s clear that for right now, his goal is to bring more rings to the ‘land.

LeBron James is set to become the highest-paid National Basketball Association player ever after he reached a three-year, $100 million deal with the reigning champions Cleveland Cavaliers and will join Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant as the only three players who have exceeded the $30 million salary per season mark in their respective careers. Previous year was magical, inspiring, all the words you can come up with, man, it was unbelievable season. His $31 million salary this coming season will make him the league’s highest-paid player for the first time in his career, according to ESPN, which first reported the signing. Cleveland lost to the Golden State Warriors in the 2015 Finals before beating the Warriors in a rematch this year for the first championship in franchise history. James’ 2018-19 option is worth $36 million, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because financial terms were not disclosed. James played on one-year deals during his first two years in Cleveland.
Wade, a Chicago native who had spent his entire career in Miami, plays his first game with the Bulls at home on October 27 against Boston. While most assumed that James would accept another two year deal with a second year player option, he actually signed a three year deal, with the third year as a player option. The 31-year-old shows little sign of slowing down, and on Thursday he said on a Twitter posting he’s focused on the Cavs defending their title. Even Kevin Durant, who is now part of the lineup including Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, failed to catch the interest of the Kyrie Irving team.
“I’m ecstatic”, James continued. “I’m really excited about moving forward with this group of guys and continuing to play in front of the best fans in the world”.
