Valve’s annual festival for all things Dota 2, The International, always provides plenty of entertainment.

At the close of day 5 of The International 2016 main event (12 August) Valve unveiled the first new hero for Dota 2 that is not a port of a hero from the original game – the Monkey King.

Given the Monkey King has had an item named for himself throughout Dota’s life, it’s possible he may also have a passive ability that grants true strike. The character is based on Sun Wukong, from the 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West. Underlord’s official existence has been less than a secret for years now, as files within Dota 2’s test client included the hero, and tutorials online have described how to use the un-finalized hero in bot matches. The victor of that match will have earned a cool $9m (£7m).

It’ll certainly be much better than the present: Dota 2 characters repeating in-game lines while an interviewer cracks awkward jokes about erotic fan-fiction and has puddles of water appearing through his legs.

Soon afterwards, Monkey King AKA Sun Wukong was revealed with a brand new trailer – you can find both video footages for the both performance and trailer attached below, courtesy of DOTA 2 Rapier.
