Katie Ledecky Smashes Record In 800M Freestyle
Katie Ledecky made history as the just second woman to win three individual freestyle events at a single Olympic Games on Friday night when she successfully defended her 2012 gold in the 800m freestyle.

New goals? Not yet decided. I’ve never seen a female swimmer like that. Ledecky has not turned professional and plans to swim at least one NCAA season.
“I relocated to the Bath programme two years ago and changed coaches and change where I live”.
DiRado couldn’t believe what she had done in her one and only Olympics.
Ledecky, defending Olympic champion at the distance, added to her golds earlier in the week in the 200 and 400 freestyle and the 4×200 freestyle relay, plus a silver in the 4×100 relay.
Kevin Durant grabbed the rebound to keep the Americans unbeaten 48 hours after they barely escaped against Australia.
Katie Ledecky restored some normalcy at the pool with another dominating performance, handily break the world record in the 800 freestyle.
For all the corruption, all the social dysfunction, all the scandal and cynicism that inescapably attend a modern Olympics, that Katie Ledecky can do that and Almaz Ayana can do that is why we still watch.
The same double had racked his 31-year-old body at U.S. Olympic trials.
“He’s been with me through thick and thin – always stood there trying to cheer me up”.
“She sent like a good luck video to my mom who forwarded it to me and I saw it right before I left before the session tonight”, Ledecky said. “I’m excited for the next chapter and what that can hold”.
Ledecky did not have the best night’s sleep Thursday.
“Does that mean times are faster?” There’s not too much warmth between the two sides since the 2014 World Cup, where Colombia’s Juan Camillo Zuniga kneed Brazilian star striker Neymar, fracturing his back. There can be new doors.
“I’m pretty sure I’ll just go on lockdown at my house”.
Her father Roger was seen wearing what he described as his “lucky shirt” – a stripy multicoloured number that he has worn to “all the big events” of his daughter’s career.
Ledecky’s personal best in the 200m freestyle is 1:53.73. The world record is 1:52.98. Her husband was ill, her father got injured. Puig is looking for her territory’s first gold in any sport in Olympic history. Maybe they should be considered, since distance freestyles have always been known to favor teens.
In 2012, Ledecky, then 15, won the 800 freestyle in 8:14.63. A few things we won’t tolerate: personal attacks, obscenity, vulgarity, profanity (including expletives and letters followed by dashes), commercial promotion, impersonations, incoherence, proselytizing and SHOUTING.
Carlin’s two medals come four years after she almost quit the sport. Ledecky rarely swims it in competition but ranked seventh in the USA this year.
“She gave a little snicker”, Schmitt said. “The rest of the stuff was just peripheral distraction [he later corrected “distraction” to “variation”], something to do on off-days”.
Ledecky rarely shows her emotions, maintaining the sort of even keel that works so well in the pool.
And Schooling can now forever say he beat the greatest swimmer and the best Olympian of all time for a medal.
“Not training with boys”, Gemmell said.
“I think she definitely could”, Bowman said. Coaches are creative. Greg will figure it out. That’s what’s challenging. That’s what’s driven her.
Solo said the Swedes “didn’t want to pass the ball”.

Four years after winning the race by four seconds Ledecky did it again, finishing in 8:04.79 in what was an even more dominant performance than what she produced in London.
