Leicester’s setback at Hull a reality check for Ranieri
The Foxes lost just three games on their way to the Premier League title last term, but were stunned by the newly-promoted Tigers at the KCOM Stadium in the opening match of the 2016-17 campaign.

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri was magnanimous in defeat, conceding that the better team won.
Hull City (4-3-3): 16 Eldin Jakupovic; 27 Ahmed Elmohamady, 14 Jake Livermore, 6 Curtis Davies, 3 Andy Robertson; 7 David Meyler, 8 Tom Huddlestone, 11 Sam Clucas; 10 Robert Snodgrass, 9 Abel Hernandez, 20 Adama Diomande. “Our commitment was awesome but it was individual, not as a team”, Ranieri said.
‘I’m just looking forward to the game. It’s a small squad at the moment but small squads have worked together well in the past, although we know that we definitely need to make additions to it. We had a list, those players have gone but players may want to come to this club now – results, performances and attitudes change things’. A group of them made their feelings known with a protest during the match, with many of them holding up signs with the simple message “NO”.
‘We fought but not as a team and they defended very well and they tried to play counter-attack and played well, ‘ he said. We’ve got to stick together and I’m certain we can give most teams a hard game on our day.

‘They played better, we tried to do our best but they fought awesome and we didn’t fight as a team and that is the key of the match. It seems a long time ago now but we have to try and build on that momentum and I think you’ve seen a bit of that in the pre-season games this summer.
