Liverpool boss Klopp upbeat over Milner injury recovery

If the club can acquire him, then the transfer window should be considered a huge win.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed defender Gabriel faces eight weeks on the sidelines but will not require an operation.

“We want to play better next week, of course, and we have one more week to prepare well for the game”.

The 26-year-old has been cursed by injuries during his career but the Liverpool man is staying positive ahead of the new campaign and is hoping to fire his side to glory.

Liverpool could be without Daniel Sturridge and James Milner for their Premier League opener with Arsenal on Sunday. Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud are lacking match fitness, whereas ever injured Jack Wilshere is set to miss another game with Patellar Tendonitis. The former Real Madrid man is one of the world’s best creative midfielders who almost broke Thierry Henry’s Premier League assist record last season with 19 layoffs in 35 matches. Arsenal, on the other hand, are facing Liverpool at perhaps the worst possible time thanks to injuries and the after effects of a long European Championships.

The England forward spent most of last season recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, featuring under Klopp for the first time on the final day.

Subs: Alex Manninger, Joel Matip, Marko Grujic, Lazar Markovic, Danny Ings, Adam Lallana, Connor Randall. Lorius Karius is now sidelined with a broken hand so Simon Mignolet will be starting as goalkeeper. “We still all have to play and work”.

“But we are on a good run in the Premier League, with ten games unbeaten and we want to continue that”.

The charismatic German has brought in some interesting recruits such as the Dutch attacking midfielder Giorginio Wijnaldum, who was one of the rare players to produce top-class performances for relegated Newcastle United last season.

Jurgen Klopp says it is a “misunderstanding” if clubs think Liverpool are going to let Christian Benteke or Mario Balotelli leave on the cheap.

He said: “I never used the excuse “that’s not my team” last season”.

Parlour, 43, who scored 21 goals in 333 appearances for the Gunners, reckons the current squad at Wenger’s disposal is good enough, especially with the addition of Granit Xhaka who will add more bite in central midfield.
