Mulayam, Mamata to meet at Pawar’s, Kejriwal may join

The Left Front accused Banerjee and her Trinamool Congress of indulging in politics over a natural calamity while the BJP hit out at the chief minister for calling an all party meet scheduled on Saturday.

Although some sources described Mamata’s exchange with Sonia as “coincidental”, Trinamul sources said today’s meetings were part of a strategy to send a subtle message to the ruling NDA that her party’s options were open.

Banerjee met Kejriwal at Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee’s residence in the national capital today. The first to arrive were the Nationalist Congress Party’s Sharad Pawar, Praful Patel and Tariq Anwar, colleagues from her Congress days.

Banerjee visited Parliament on Tuesday.

For the BJP president, it will be hard to take on TMC on the day the party’s leader is meeting the Prime Minister. To make things more hard for the party, differences between State president Rahul Sinha and actor-turned-BJP politician Rupa Ganguly became evident. Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav are also expected to be present in the meeting, which would be held at Pawar’s residence. After the meeting, Kejriwal said: “There will be a seminar on cooperative federalism on September 22”. “I choose to ignore this question”, she said.

Later speaking to journalists, she said that West Bengal has already launched its own campaign. They have not yet joined other Opposition parties in the well of the House. “In Delhi also we raised issues concerning the common man. There are so many common grounds between Mamataji and AAP, and we will work together”, he said.
