Hello Games promises No Man’s Sky patch will fix ‘critical issues’

Hello Games has been overwhelmed by an unexpectedly high number of players and length of play sessions, and is “working quickly to adapt” to the situation, according to Murray.

Some of the issues include bugs and crashes but Sean Murray is kind enough to offer players some workarounds for some of the annoying bugs in the game. Murray says users can jetpack around while pushing against any surface.

“If you have left your ship somewhere inaccessible, you will be able to summon it from landing pads or beacons found at most buildings or points of interest (marked by question marks)”.

The most debilitating problem involved the starship that players who pre-ordered the game got for free.

This led to situations where players with the pre-order ship were unwittingly buying new ships that didn’t come with hyperdrives, meaning they couldn’t leave that system, essentially breaking the game. One reason some players could be confused if they had or not, is that the ship names displayed in-game were incorrect.

In terms of fantastical investment from an exploration perspective, both our own oceans and space represent the best unknowns, and it’s with these two frontiers we compare two games boldly taking us to places we desperately want to go. It takes construction and resource gathering seriously enough that they become your job; the means by which you can afford to travel between the stars on mystery vacations.

“In most cases the player is actually able to continue (107 of the 135 reports emailed so far)”.

All the additional hype around No Man’s Sky comes from people themselves, and from stupid journalists hyping the game through the stratosphere without ever having played it.

The game is so big that despite featuring online multiplayer elements, players won’t need to invest in a PlayStation plus subscription to play.
