Court of Appeal rules in Labour’s favor to deny members leadership vote
“I hope that the candidates can find time in their busy schedules to talk to voters in those areas as well as just the safe Labour areas that Labour has relied on for many years”.

There has been speculation that newer Labour members were more likely to support Mr Corbyn while Mr Smith was more likely to gain support from longstanding activists.
Mr Smith told the Press Association: “I don’t think it changes anything for me”.
He vowed that placard-waving Corbynistas will be “at the heart of every community” when Britain next goes to the polls.
And he pledged that 130,000 die-hard supporters denied a vote in next month’s leadership contest would be given a central role in his push for power.
The MP said: “He’s clearly not satisfied with conning the membership and has now started deceiving himself”.
Deputy leader Tom Watson, who supported the legal appeal, has claimed that new members included “Trotsky entryists” who were “twisting the arms” of young members to support Mr Corbyn.
He told a Milton Keynes rally he will harness the power of Labour’s growing 500,000-strong membership to oust the Tories.
Labour critics claim he is unsuited to lead the party into a general election and blame him for a half-hearted, ultimately unsuccessful campaign to keep Britain in the European Union ahead of an in-out referendum. The party’s more centrist members consider the 67-year-old left-winger ineffective and unelectable.
“Halesowen and Rowley Regis, Dudley South, Stourbridge – these are seats that Labour needs to win back in a general election”.
“That movement contains new energy, new ideas and it’s a major part of our plan for government”.
Asked twice if he had full confidence in Mr McNicol, Mr Corbyn repeatedly stated: “I have been happy to work with Iain McNicol since I became leader”.
Numerous members affected are believed to back Mr Corbyn rather than his rival Owen Smith. “Tragically, the answer is nearly certainly yes”. The result will be announced at the Labour party conference on 24 September.
He said: “The party, on the leadership election, are in the early days in it”.
“Whether it’s formally recognised or not, Labour is no longer a single party”.
The judges allowed party officials to re-impose the “freeze date” on new members, overturning a ruling by the High Court on Monday.
A central aim of the Blairites in attempting to remove Corbyn is the reversal of the June 23 referendum vote for the United Kingdom to leave the UK.
Just who do the Labour NEC represent?
Owen Smith is challenging Jeremy Corbyn for the leadership. Corbyn is competing against Owen Smith amid mounting criticism of the former. This was made clear on Labour’s web site to encourage people to sign up.
In his submission to the appeal, the NEC’s barrister, Clive Sheldon QC, cited Appendix 2 of the party’s rule book, which states, “The recruitment of large numbers of “paper members”, who have no wish to participate except at the behest of others in an attempt to manipulate party processes, undermines our democracy and is unacceptable to the party as a whole”.

Labour is now run by its extreme left.
