When Murray and Hello Games (as well as console publisher Sony) actually did show and talk about No Man’s Sky, though, they were actually relatively restrained and realistic about what they were promising. Then you can fly to a new planet and begin the process all over again. “Over the five years of developing No Man’s Sky, I’ve made my peace with that”. After all, for a computer there may be little difference between one tree or a thousand, but from a player’s perspective that might be a huge change. No Man’s Sky does have more than 18 quintillion planets to offer.

I’ve been told that much of game development is smoke and mirrors – cleverly hiding a game’s limitations in ways that the average player won’t notice.
Besides mining, you can also look for valuable objects in plants. No matter where you go, no matter how deep into the galaxy or how obscure a corner of the universe, whatever planet you land on is going to have sensors, and those sensors will eventually lead you to drop pods.

Murray has since clarified that No Man’s Sky includes “online features and some Easter Eggs to create cool moments”, but has not commented regarding the presence of synchronous online multiplayer functionality.
That’s not to say that No Man’s Sky never captured my sense of wonder.
Developer Hello Games said earlier that it’s working to adapt to the large number of players now exploring the game’s universe, and added that average player session far exceeded expectations.

Thankfully, you’ll receive one at the beginning of the game for free… but it’s one you’ll quickly want to rid yourself of in favor of a better model. The indie developer, however, is working to fix the problems, and it seems that the company might do them soon.
