Police in the city of Hickory, North California, are searching for a clown who threatened a woman while wielding an axe, according to the Huffington Post.

The woman said the male figure was wearing a clown mask and multicolored wig.
Police in Hickory have identified a man accused of swinging an ax at a woman while wearing a clown costume.
Incredibly during the scuffle the woman was somehow able to “partially remove the clown mask” which sounds like a very gutsy maneuver when someone’s swinging an ax at you.
The victim filed an arrest warrant with the local court magistrate, and it had not been served as of Tuesday morning, Dieter and a Catawba County Court clerk said. It is not known what precipitated the incident.
Police have not released the suspect’s name.

Hickory Police Department spokesperson Chrystal Dieter told TIME that there was an “outstanding warrant” against the suspect.
