Can Goodell afford another loss in court?
“I know I don’t tend to flatter people”, she said.

On July 28, Goodell upheld a four-game suspension for Brady.
Where’s the evidence? This question seemed to be one of the main themes during today’s federal court proceedings. He didn’t join the laughter of lawyers at several points, and slumped in his chair and kept his head lowered throughout the hearing.
The Deflategate scandal, in which the New England Patriots football team is accused of tampering with footballs, occurred during the American Football Conference Championship Game on January 18.

“I have not made up mind which side will prevail”, Judge Berman said Wednesday.
Berman is “known among his colleagues as a settlement judge” and is urging both sides to settle the case, Nichols said.
Jeffrey Kessler, an attorney for Brady through the National Football League Player’s Association, bristled at this allegation.
There is no reason for Goodell to cave with Brady. It was close to a knockout after the round with Nash when Berman raised doubts that Ted Wells’ investigation was truly independent and whether there indeed was any direct evidence the NFL had uncovered linking Brady to the deflation of footballs or even any knowledge they were being deflated.
With a four-game suspension looming over quarterback Tom Brady, coach Bill Belichick will have to decide which is more important: Getting his backup prepared for a possible stint as the starter, or showing his support for the suspended Super Bowl MVP.
The league is asking Berman to declare it followed its collective bargaining agreement properly when it punished Brady. He says similar cases are usually resolved by a judge if they are not settled. In it, it said Patriots staff probably under-inflated the footballs, and that Brady was “at least generally aware” of it.
After the public hearing, both Brady and Goodell were detained for private settlement discussions.
It all started when WCVB sports director Scott Isaacs tweeted the image and wrote, “We’ve just gotten the first sketches from federal court – there’s Goodell on the left, Brady to the right #wcvb”.
Goodell and the league are arguing that the punishment was justified under the current players’ contract.
The suspension does not affect Bradys ability to participate in training camp or play in the exhibition games, but resting him would give Belichick a chance to get Garoppolo some snaps with the first team. How could his sculpted jaw line ever lie to us?
In Wednesday’s hearing, the judge repeatedly asked the NFL for solid proof of Brady’s guilt.
Now Rosenberg wants Brady to know she’s sorry for making Brady “look like Lurch”, the uncle from “The Addams Family“.

Feldman said that if no settlement is reached, the side that Berman rules against would be expected to appeal the decision to a higher court.
