Suttum Vizhi lyricist Na Muthukumar passes away
National Award-winning Tamil lyricist Na Muthukumar died in Chennai on Sunday today due to jaundice, sources close to his family said. In 2006, he got married to Jeevalakshmi and they had parented two children, nine-years-old son Aadhavan and nine-months old daughter Yogalakshmi.

Muthukumar entered the film world with a dream of becoming a director and worked as an associate for Balumahendra. He started his career as a lyricist in films like Minsara Kanna (1999) and went on to carve a niche for himself in these last 17 years, never comproming on quality and placing a high value on the literary value of his lyrics.
It’s a shocking news for Tamil film industry and fans.
He first won the award for the song “Aananda Yazhai Meetukiral” in the film “Thangameenkal” and the second award was for the song “Azhage Azhagu” in “Saivam“.
Some of his literature works include Silk City (novel), Newton-in Moondram Vidhi, Ennai Sandhikka Kanavil Varathe (collection of poems). BJP state unit president, Tamilisai Soundararajan visited Muthukumar’s house and placed a wreath. Meanwhile, social media is abuzz of condolence messages. Actor Siddharth tweeted, “I can not believe Na Muthukumar is no more”. Too young to die. “What a loss! Sad sad day (sic)”.
Actor Musci composed GV Prakash Kumar expressed hsi grief as “Can’t believe this namuthukumar is no more”.
“Can’t believe this. Na Muthukumar is no more”.
Later, he wrote for films of Selvaragahavan and the song Niniathu Ninaithu Parthen in 7G Rainbow Colony became one of the evergreen film songs.
