Missouri’s governor’s race is wide open because two-term incumbent Jay Nixon, a Democrat, has served the maximum amount allowed under state law and can not seek re-election.
A former Navy SEAL whose organization, The Mission Continues, has focused on encouraging fellow veterans to take leadership roles in civilian life, has been nominated by Republican voters as the next governor of Missouri.
The four combined to spend more than $22 million, according to figures released about two weeks before the election.

Kinder supporter Eric Peters, who is the Cole County treasurer, explained: “He’s been in the trenches, and I think he’s deserving of Republican support”. Hanaway is one of four Republicans running in the August 2 primary to become the party’s nominee for Missouri governor. He had just completed an intense primary race with three other candidates.
Polls are open until 7 p.m.in Missouri.
Republicans John Brunner and former House Speaker Catherine Hanaway conceded Tuesday night.

Koster, at last report, had almost $11 million in his campaign warchest.
