A North Carolina shopping mall was placed on lockdown on Saturday, August 13, after police responded to reports of a shooting in the food court.

No one has been arrested.

One woman shared a video from inside of the mall shortly after the shooting reportedly occurred.

“We are examining all possibilities”, Raleigh Police Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown told reporters at a news conference. Deck-Brown said at her news conference just after 5 p.m. that the mall had been emptied and people weren’t being allowed back inside in the hours after the shooting. Some people were inside the nearby Marriott where dozens lined the hallways and the lobby.

Another person said he saw an argument between two men in the food court that led to about four shots being fired.

The station says no suspects have been taken into custody.

She said they heard “something pop” and then “pandemonium broke out” with shoppers running over tables and chairs to escape. They turned and ran outside, along with a rush of other people.

Police said in a statement about two hours later that they’d found no one with gunshot wounds, nor had they arrested a suspect. They quickly ran into the store with dozens of others before the doors of the mall were locked. He said he heard about five or six shots as he was walking out of a cell phone accessory store with his family.

A witness told CBS North Carolina’s Amy Cutler that she heard gunshots fired.

Police have not confirmed either witness report.

At least 100 people who were once inside the mall are gathered at the Marriott across from the mall.

EMS and fire crews set up a staging area near the mall.
