Injured As JetBlue Flight Hits Turbulence
JetBlue Flight 429 left Logan at 5:25 p.m. Thursday and landed in Rapid City, South Dakota, around 7:30 p.m., the airline says. A jet flying behind can ask air traffic controllers for permission to drop to 31,000 feet to try to avoid the worst turbulence.

“The captain had said that we were going to be hitting [turbulence]”.
The FAA urges passengers to keep seat belts fastened during takeoff and landing as well as any other time the seat belt sign is on.
The turbulence even caused the toilet to be ripped from the bathroom wall, according to one passenger.
“I was working on my laptop when the plane suddenly dropped”, passenger Alan Lee told the Boston Globe.
Passenger Rhonda Lynam said the plane began to rock as it went “right through a black cloud”. “It was dropping 25, 50 storeys, like an out of control elevator”. It was just normal – if you fly a lot.it just kind of shakes and then it’s OK.
‘It was nearly like a bang, like we hit a wall and just dropped straight down, ‘ passenger Casey Corcoran of Milton, Massachusetts, told Boston ABC affiliate WCVB.
“I literally grabbed her out of the air to hold her to the seat”, said Lindahl, a software engineer from Sacramento.
He also said there was damage to the inside of the plane, including cracks in the overhead bins.
The flight is now scheduled to reach its destination, Sacramento, at 4:04 am (12:04 GMT). Everybody was crying and screaming.

A replacement aircraft was sent to take the remaining passenger to Sacramento, said JetBlue officials.
