Hilarity ensues when a bachelorette party crashes Olympic coverage

The BBC’s Olympics coverage was hijacked by a hen party last night and presenter Dan Walker handled the situation like a true pro.

The sports journalist was presenting the late-night show on Copacabana beach when the rowdy hen party walked past.

Rather than try to shout over the crowd of women singing, he invited the bride over for a chat.

As the live weightlifting coverage was made to wait, Maria also gave a shout out to her favourite football team Fluminense, whose name she had tattooed onto her arm.

Ever the professional, Dan took it in his stride and waved bride Maria over for a chat.

But Maria had no intention of leaving in a hurry.

Egged on by her raucous mates, she asks what TV channel she is on.

And when told BBC, she recoils in shock and rubs her fingers together to suggest Walker is rich.

She then proudly revealed she is due to be married in September, while her party of revellers chanted “Maria, Maria, Maria”.

“This is lovely”, Walker said in disbelief.

The BBC Breakfast presenter later revealed to his Twitter followers that he had been invited to the wedding next month. Hen party Maria (De Cezar) has been in touch today… got an invite to the wedding!’
