The murder accused are alleged to have purchased a plastic container to dissolve Eva’s body – a fact they learned from the popular TV show.

The decomposing body of young woman, who was studying art history, was found by her mother covered in cling film in a suitcase at her flat in Toulouse, France, last month, according to RFI.

A police source in Toulouse said: ‘Acid and a plastic trunk were used to disintegrate the body, so that evidence would disappear.

A woman and three men, all between the ages of 19 and 23 and all with a criminal record, have since been arrested in connection with the murder, and by Friday a prosecutor revealed some of the grisly details.

The men are thought to have been high on speed when they killed Miss Bourseau, 24, with a sharp blow to the skull, the prosecutor said. On July 26, two male suspects reportedly went to her apartment and allegedly beat her to death with “brass knuckles and a crowbar”, according to a rough translation of a French AFP report.

The prosecutor explained that the suspects had been inspired by a US TV show Breaking Bad, where the lead characters use Hydrofluoric acid – a highly corrosive acid – to dissolve the bodies of their victims.

Jason Hart of Washington, D.C., allegedly strangled his girlfriend in 2013 and then tried to get rid of her body in a bathtub full of acid.

Investigations into the killing are continuing but it is believed one of the three is being treated as an accomplice while the other two considered lead offenders, and will face the French equivalent of a murder charge. In one scene, the characters are told to dispose of a body in a plastic container filled with acid, as a metal container will break down. Kuntal Patel, 37, said she did not plan to kill her mother, but “wished” her dead for forbidding her to marry the man she loved. “It was like I saw myself to be some kind of Mexican drug warlord”, she said in court, according to the Guardian.

They set up air refreshers to mask the scent of the rotting flesh and returned to the flat several times to check up on the dissolving process.
