Following the snub, fans started a petition against Fox titled, “Request Teen Choice Awards & Fox formally apologize for disrespecting Christina Grimmie”.

Alba called victims of gun violence from Newtown, San Bernardino and the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting to the stage, but Grimmie, a popular online musician among teens, was not mentioned. “Once Upon a Time” won the award for best TV sci/fi-fantasy and “Family Guy” won the prize for best animated show, while “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” won the award for best reality show.
“Tonight we stand together with these teens”, Alba, 35, said after they introduced themselves. But the show’s hosts, WWE star John Cena and Nickelodeon’s Victoria Justice had pretty hilarious impersonations of the presidential candidates. “Take a picture of these courageous teens asking for the violence to stop and then post with the hashtag #StopTheViolence”.
The annual Teen Choice Awards turned political Sunday night, partnering with the liberal-leaning Rock the Vote campaign to poll teens about their “Choice President”.
Jessica Alba and Ne-Yo were joined onstage last night by teens whose family members have been victims of recent acs of gun violence.
Even Hillary Clinton won an award, for Choice President, defeating Donald Trump.
This year’s Teen Choice Awards also addressed gun violence. (And no, we don’t mean Taylor Swift shocked.) Garner accepted the award with her 12-year-old co-star, Kylie Rogers and made our hearts melt when she said, “Thank you, this is for this little lady”. While their votes can not be counted in this year’s official election, they were tallied and counted for the show and revealed during the broadcast. The singer rocketed to stardom on YouTube and as a contestant on “The Voice”.
In TV, teen drama Pretty Little Liars was the stand-out victor with four awards.
The two-hour ceremony included performances by “Empire” actress Serayah, Charlie Puth, Flo Rida and Bebe Rexha.

Grimmie’s win was confirmed in a press release that was published after the ceremony ended.
