Jazz Carlin claimed a second silver medal from Rio 2016 after chasing home the awesome Katie Ledecky in the 800m freestyle.

Carlin, who missed the London 2012 Games because of illness, celebrated her “incredible feeling” after years of upheaval after changing coaches and moving training bases to Bath under Dave McNulty’s guidance.
“I woke up with a sore throat this morning because I was screaming for Simone Manuel at the TV last night – she’s my roommate – and then seeing Maya Dirado win the 200 metres backstroke in what was her last race ever just got me so excited to race”. I’m going to walk away happy with what I’ve done here.
19-year-old Katie Ledecky shocked the crowd in the 800 m freestyle, when she broke the world record and earned her fourth gold medal at the Rio Games. “I’ll really cherish that for the rest of my life”, he said, and not just because it was Michael Phelps. I’ve done something that no one in our country has done before. There were nights I would go to bed and think about this day (and) how much fun I’ve had these past four years, and I’d start crying in bed. She also won gold in 800 free relay and silver in 400 free relay.
“When I was on the podium (for the 400) it felt like something I wanted to remember forever so I’m going to make sure I take it all in and cherish every moment”.
It clearly wasn’t a serious ailment: To say Ledecky left the competition in her wake would obscure the fact that much of her wake had settled by the time the other swimmers came along.
And as she contemplated her achievement in Rio, the preternaturally poised teen couldn’t hold back her emotions. (Admittedly, this was only his third.) He stood on the medal stand next to Chad le Clos and Laszlo Cseh, two of his greatest rivals who touched the wall at the exact hundredth of a second Phelps did to share the silver with him. But DiRado rallied furiously on the final lap and got Hosszu at the touch to win in 2 minutes, 5.99 seconds. The winning time was 50.39 seconds.
Heading into this final swim for Phelps, he has won four gold medals and one silver at the Summer Games.
“She’s doing times that women have never done before because she’s not afraid to think outside the box”, fellow Olympian Michael Phelps said.
Jazz Karlin finally touched in 8:16.17 to claim the silver, just ahead of Hungary’s Boglarka Kapas grabbing the silver in 8:16.37.
Ervin won his first gold in the 50-metres freestyle at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in a dead heat with compatriot Gary Hall Jr, before leaving the sport to pursue a love of rock music. She said she did not believe so.
Four years earlier she was the youngest athlete in the USA delegation, but even then the 15-year-old had won Gold in her pet event, the 800M, in London. Her time in Rio comes to an end with four gold medals, one silver and immeasurable anticipation for her next go-round in the Olympic games. But he’ll have to do with some help from his teammates, swimming in the butterfly leg of the 400 medley relay on the final night of swimming on Saturday.

Now, all eyes are on Ledecky, who at age 19 is still the youngest member of the US swim team in Rio.
