Ever since the remains of a young girl were found on a Boston beach on June 25, investigators have been endlessly combing through leads in an effort to uncover her identity. Detectives already suspected that the child had died locally, but where she had lived had remained a mystery.
The results were evaluated at the Arnold Arboretum in Boston and it was determined the pollen came from trees found in the Boston area. Baby Doe had played among the pines and oaks of New England; she was dusted with traces of privet hedges and cedar-of-Lebanon, which are not native but are often planted in the suburbs. Somewhere near Boston, they concluded.
The University of North Texas Human Identification Center is now conducting DNA analysis. There is no word on when that might come back.
The majority of the toxicology tests have been completed, and 5 Investigates reports there are still no answers as to how the little girl died.
