Phelps, Ledecky, Biles highlight Day 4

Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte have delivered 12 years of thrilling Olympic showdowns. Phelps clocked 1 minute and 54.66 seconds, followed by Kosuke Hagino of Japan with a time of 1:57.05 and Wang Shun of China with 1:57.21. According to an ESPN report, committing suicide was looking like the best way out to him. You might recall that Michael Phelps, 31, claimed that record just this week.

“I think it’s great just having anybody who is able to compete in these Games”, he said.

Four years ago, Phelps mistimed his finish in the swooping stroke he does better than anyone, gliding to the wall a little too long after his final stroke.

He told reporters after his win in Rio: “I’m just ecstatic”. Screw this. I’m not, I’m not hiding behind anything anymore.

While Phelps and Ledecky have been grabbing the headlines, other American swimmers have been pushing up the medal count.

After hearing Phelps’ story, Warren tweeted that he was proud of him “for his victories before the Olympics”.

According to historians, Leonidas of Rhodes was the closest thing to an Olympic god, winning his last three gold medals at 36. “Throwing me out there for another four years.’ If he wants to come back for another four years, it will be fun to watch”.

“This has all been in my training plan since January, and I qualified with the top result”, Hovorov said. Joseph Schooling of Singapore built a big lead in the 100-meter butterfly and easily held off one of Phelps’ patented comebacks, leaving him at 22 gold medals with one race, a relay, left to go.

She was surely thinking about all the work she put in to make it there, not to mention all the changes to come as she gets ready to head off to college.

After that, Phelps will hang up his cap – not the one he ripped in half before the 4×200 freestyle relay – and spend more time with his loved ones.

The last day of the Rio Olympics rowing competition could write another entry in the epic rivalry between Olympic singles champion Mahe Drysdale of New Zealand and world champion Ondrej Synek of the Czech Republic.

PUIG’S PUSH: Tennis player Monica Puig is one victory from Puerto Rico’s first gold medal in Olympic history.

“That was a really tough race and it hurt really badly”, Ledecky said. Sweden also beat the USA women on penalty kicks, sending the favored US team home without an Olympic medal for the first time.

Madeline DiRado also looks to give the United States another medal in her 200-metre backstroke final, while the men’s 50-metre freestyle and women’s 800-metre freestyle finals complete Friday’s medal races.

Simone Manuel became the first African-American woman to win an individual event in Olympic swimming.

Day 4 of the Rio Games features medal action in gymnastics, swimming, fencing, judo and more.
