Everything was going fine for the New York Giants in their preseason opener, until their top two draft picks left with injuries.

“We had a couple of bad exchanges that we didn’t handle well”, McAdoo said. “It’s going to be hot this week, we’re going to work through it and we look forward to moving on to Buffalo”, he said.

He paused before adding: “No, that’s not where either one of us wanted to be”. Shepard made an fantastic 24-yard reception in the first quarter before being shut down due to a “sore groin”, according to NJ.com on August 13, 2016. His removal was precautionary.

“I think overall, as an offense, Ryan was right in line with everybody else tonight”, said Giants head coach Ben McAdoo. He participate in 7-on-7 drills though so only time will tell how long he is out.

The Giants will be off on Saturday before returning to the Quest Diagnostics Training Center for the final public practice of training camp on Sunday.

Despite yet another great season for with receiver Odell Beckham Jr, the New York Giants didn’t translate it into their advantage as they ended up in a 6-10 record, missing the playoffs again that pave the way for coach Tom Coughlin to exit. The Giants signed Janoris Jenkins and eventually Leon Hall to join Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who will be the team’s only returning starter outside after Prince Amukamara departed for Jacksonville. Starting running back Jay Ajayi ran for six yards on two carries and dropped a pass that hit his hands early in the contest. He later recovered a fumble on special teams. Apple said they are taking it day-by-day. “I just have to bounce back and get back out there”. On the Giants’ next possession, Nassib fumbled the ball, which was returned by Spencer Paysinger and lead to a 5-yard touchdown run by Damien Williams.

Rashad Jennings staked the home squad to a 7-0 lead with a three-yard touchdown run to cap off a nine-play, 74-yard drive, and kicker Josh Brown made his only field goal attempt of the day with 29 seconds remaining in the opening stanza to up the Giants advantage to ten.

“I saw the defensive ends flying around”, Harrison said. “Being able to get out there was big for me”. I got a little bit off balance, and was trying to hold up the guy I was blocking. “That’s what I expect of myself”.

In the locker room following their pro debut, albeit in the preseason, neither Apple nor Shepard appeared concerned.
