Punjab IPS officers get President’s Police Medal
Three IPS officers from Punjab have been chosen for President’s Police Medal for meritorious service.

But interestingly, Only two IPS officers figure in the list of awards announced on Sunday. Surjeet Singh Guleria, DIG, NDRF was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, while Satish Kumar Sastri, Mahasher Hussain, S. Raghvendra, Suresh Kumar Yadav, and Bhawani Singh Rathore, were conferred the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Sub-Inspector Dudekula Siddaiah and Constable Chougoni Nagaraju of Telangana Police have been posthumously awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry among a total of 948 police personnel honoured on the occasion.
Special Police commandant Y. Srinivasa Rao, Vigilance assistant SP Ch. Narotham Reddy, Special Police assistant commandant K.S. Natarajan, Special Intelligence Branch assistant SP P. Muralkrishna, ACP (passport verification) Shaik Mohammed Nizamuddin, Gadwal DSP A. Balakoti, Special Branch inspector A. Venkata Satyanarayana, assistant sub-inspector Intelligence D. Veeranagaiah, Counter Intelligence cell assistant sub-inspector V. Panduranga Rao, Special Police head constable Abdul Nayeem, Intelligence head constable D. Balakrishna were given the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Besides, Inspectors Gurcharan Singh, Tarlochan Singh, Narinder Pal, and sub-inspectors Lakhbir Singh, Inderjit Singh, Mangal Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Harjinder Singh, and ASIs Jagmail Singh, Balwinder Kumar, Kulwinder Singh, and head constable Madan Lal have also been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Vijay Kumar Shukla, presently DSP in the special crime unit of the agency, who probed the Badaun suicide case, was given the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Chand hails from Palampur, Himachal Pradesh.
The top honour of Presidents Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) has been given to three Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel for thwarting terrorist attacks at Indian Consulates at Mazar-e-Sharif and Jalalabad in Afghanistan early this year.
