Rio Olympics: Medal wait continues as Mirza-Bopanna lose bronze medal match
Since their match is set to commence much before Dipa’s vault final, they have a golden chance to open the country’s medal chest in what has so far been a fruitless campaign by the 100-plus contingent.

On Saturday night, both Mirza and Bopanna will enter court to take on U.S. pair of Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram here.
Mirza has teamed up with Czech woman Barbora Strycova while Hingis will partner American Coco Vandeweghe in Cincinnati and at the US Open. “We are really happy the way we played but of course there’s room for improvement”, she said after the game. “We have to get over losses and try to bounce back”, she said. Emulating her former partner Mahesh Bhupathi’s strategy, Sania said she stuck with same game plan.
The match went on serve in the first set until 4-4 when Peers lost his serve.
“You feel a lot better as she brings the best out of me”.
If they continue in the same vein on Saturday they may just find themselves ending the medal drought that India is facing.
India’s badminton player Saina Nehwal plays against Vicente Lohaynny of Brazil during the Women’s Single match in the Summer Olympic 2016 at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Aug. 11. Mirza and Prarthana Thombare were defeated in the second round of the women’s doubles. All the eyes will be on these two when they walked for the playoffs. “There are so many emotions going on in my mind, But as tennis players we have to take it in our stride”, the Bengaluru lad asserted. It is something amazingly special. Hingis last played the Olympics in 1996 in Atlanta.
“After three Grand Slam victories and eleven WTA doubles title together, we have mutually agreed that we would each be open to playing with other players for the remainder of the season”. “We were in good shape because we won the tournament right before”. In all they won 14 titles.
And it took only few time, to Ram and Venus to start celebrating their win as they both jumped and were the world’s two best happiest men on the planet. The result ended a hard Olympics for 35-year-old Hingis.

Both Mirza, 29, and Hingis, 35, are now competing at the Rio Olympics, where Mirza and countrywoman Prarthana Thombare were eliminated from women’s doubles play in the first round.
