Rains wreak havoc on Louisiana; 3 dead, thousands evacuated
The trouble in Louisiana is unrelated to the outage that some customers in the Midwest experienced on Saturday.

Emergency workers in Louisiana have rescued more than 7,000 residents stranded in homes and cars during a historic flood, Governor John Bel Edwards said Sunday.
Across southern Louisiana Sunday, residents scrambled to get to safety as rivers and creeks burst their banks, swollen from days of heavy rain that in some areas came close to two feet over a 48-hour period.
Some 1,700 members of the Louisiana National Guard have been deployed for rescue efforts.
Two additional flood victims from St. Helena Parish were believed to have drowned after their vehicles were submerged in flood waters. “Don’t get out and sightsee”, Edwards said yesterday.

About 200 roads have been closed because due to high water, officials said, and 1,400 bridges need to be inspected before they are reopened to traffic, officials said. Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff Ivy Woods is advising residents to pack up and get out before Tuesday.
