This past Monday, the Erie County Fair was informed by Creative Artists Agency that the Meghan Trainor “MTrain Tour” concert, scheduled for August 13 at the Erie County Fair, was to be cancelled.

Trainor, 21, who scored a hit last year with “All About That Bass”, announced Tuesday that she couldn’t complete her tour due to a vocal cord problem that requires surgery. Annually attracting more than a million people from all over the world, the Iowa State Fair located at East 30th and East University, just 10 minutes from downtown Des Moines is Iowa’s greatest celebration with a salute to the best in agriculture, industry, entertainment and achievement. Customers are asked to bring their original Meghan Trainor and/or Little Big Town tickets to any gate to gain the free EC Fair gate admission. Acts already scheduled are rockers Def Leppard on Aug. 15 and country artists Reba McEntire on Aug. 16 and Carrie Underwood on Aug. 17.

A number of other fairs are coming up in Siouxland as well. Receipts for the Florida Georgia Line with Colt Ford show exceeded $435,000 from an attendance of 11,139. Williamson says shows selling at least 10,000 tickets are considered sold out.
