Colts extend contract of Wide Receiver TY Hilton
The wide receiver will become an unrestricted free agent following the 2015 season but the Colts would like to ink up Hilton before the start of his last season. Also, $39 million is guaranteed.

In the first move toward locking up their growing list of young stars, the Indianapolis Colts have agreed to terms on a blockbuster contract extension for receiver T.Y. Hilton. “We’re extremely happy as an organization to ensure that T.Y. will continue to be a part of our journey for many years to come”. Dividing his total payout by six years puts the average annual value more in the range of Jeremy Maclin and Vincent Jackson, who rank fifth and sixth in the league, respectively.
Over three NFL seasons, Hilton has amassed 214 receptions, 3,289 yards and 16 100-yard receiving games.
The talented young receiver managed to get a deal similar to that of Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas.
The difference between Hilton’s deal and the contracts Bryant and Thomas signed is that Hilton has one year and $1.542 million remaining on his current contract.
Hilton’s contract was set to expire at the end of the season and he was scheduled to make $1.54 million in 2015. With the team bringing onboard a plethora of new talent in the forms of running back Frank Gore and wide receiver Andre Johnson and with the expected development of Coby Fleener, Dwayne Allen and Donte Moncrief, Hilton’s target may very well dwindle this coming season.
The Florida worldwide product is entering his fourth year in the league, and is now being paid like a top pass catcher.

The Colts have a history of re-signing the best players they’ve drafted over the past 15 years and this is no exception.
