No evidence of gunfire found at JFK Airport in NY

A statement that was said to have come from a spokesperson for the Port Authority of NY and New Jersey claims that the gunfire initially erupted near the departure area of JFK Airport, and that there were no known injuries to now report.

The investigation is ongoing.

An all-clear was given Sunday night after Port Authority Police and the NYPD responded to reports of gunfire at JFK Airport on Sunday night. But a search found no evidence of a gun being fired.

Terminal 8 at the John F Kennedy Airport in NY was evacuated after reports of shots being fired, with several news agencies highlighting chaos an cancelled flights at the airport.

Witness Bryan Liston filmed himself in Terminal 8 during the evacuation using Facebook Live, saying they were being escorted out of the airport by armed police.

“They told us nothing from the flight deck”, he said. Roads have been closed off in the vicinity of the airport.

Traffic in an out of the airport came to a stop as police officers were pressed to get vehicles in an out while passengers wandered nearby. The Van Wyck Expressway was also closed in the vicinity of the terminal, he said.

Panicky travelers ran out of the terminals during the incident.
