Giants CB Eli Apple has scan on injured left knee

The New York Giants played their first game of 2016 against the Miami Dolphins, a game that resulted in a 27-10 loss.

Cruz was practicing regularly in training camp until the groin began to act up on him last week, forcing him to miss two practices and the preseason opener.

Cruz and the Giants have downplayed the groin problem since it surfaced. That number, however, never did include Cruz himself.

While Manning is unlikely to play much on Friday, the Giants’ revamped defense will be on full display. He says it’s easy to tell when a young player is pressing, and that’s something that could become a factor when it comes time to paring down the roster to the final 53 in preparation for the regular season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. Thus, take the points with the Dolphins and hope that the game comes down to Thomas remaining shaky for NY. Giants head coach Ben McAdoo advised that “his groin is still bothering him a bit”. Rookie receiver Sterling Shepard was added to give Eli Manning another weapon and should free up Odell Beckham, Jr.

First-round draft pick Eli Apple is also day to day with a strained knee. Apple suffered a lower leg strain in Friday night’s exhibition game against the Dolphins. It doesn’t appear serious.

Giants: Apple and Shepard were hurt in the first half and did not return. Safety A.J. Hendy came up with the interception and five plays and 61 yards later, quarterback Matt Moore, who finished his night 9 of 11 for 11 yards, one touchdown and one interception, found receiver Matt Hazel on a 51-yard touchdown pass. That too is believed to be mild.

The news was equally discouraging for wide receiver Geremy Davis (hamstring) and fullback/tight end Will Johnson (neck).

After the game was delayed almost an hour because of thunderstorms, rookie cornerback Eli Apple, the team’s first-round pick, made an early exit with what the Giants described as a “lower leg strain”.

Apple, Shepard, Thompson, and Milhouse have already seen time with the first and second teams, but now it seems that Deayon and Perkins are joining them as well.

“[Thompson] stepped in, he knows football, he gets football”, McAdoo said.

We need to trust the coaching staff can make the necessary adjustments and improve in week two otherwise we’re already giving up hope after one showing.
