Clinton happily yields national spotlight to Trump, avoids its glare
It’s doubtful Donald Trump even knows Article 1, Section 8, of the U.S. Constitution grants Congress “power to lay and collect taxes”.

“Here’s a pretty incredible fact: There is a non-zero chance that Donald Trump isn’t paying (asterisk) any (asterisk) taxes”, Clinton tweeted, after releasing her own returns.
While Donald Trump resists calls to release his tax returns, Hillary Clinton on Friday revealed that a year ago she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, had paid more in federal taxes than most taxpayers in their rarefied federal tax bracket.
In total, the Clintons earned than $139 million between 2007 and 2014, according to eight years of federal income tax returns released by her campaign last July. Half of their income came from speeches.
Bill Clinton’s consulting work for GEMS Education, a global network of for-profit schools based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, earned him more than $5.6 million in fees between 2010 and 2015, according to the tax returns.
Trump has faced a series of self-inflicted controversies since the Democratic National Convention last month, when he suggested that Russian Federation should hack into Hillary Clinton’s emails from when she was secretary of state.
The bulk of the Clinton’s income – almost $6 million – came from speaking and appearance fees.
In 2015, the Clintons reported $1,042,000 in charitable donations.
The Democratic presidential nominee famously told ABC’s Diane Sawyer in 2014 that she and her husband “came out of the White House not only dead broke, but in debt”.
Since then, 19 of 20 major-party presidential candidates have released at least a year of tax returns, according to Joseph Thorndike, the director of the Tax History Project at Tax Analysts, a nonpartisan policy organization, and author of the “Politics of Federal Taxation” column for Tax Notes magazine.
“We’re gonna watch Pennsylvania”, Trump said. The tax returns issue “is not going to get him on the message he wants to be on”.
Buffett also dismissed Trump’s argument that that the Federal Election Commission finance forms he filled out should suffice.
“Donald Trump is hiding behind fake excuses and backtracking on his previous promises to release his tax returns”.
Trump has said that his returns are now being audited and he would release his returns after it is completed. It’s speculated that he’s reluctant to do so for one or more reasons. They may show he has financial dealings that further hurt his election chances, especially if they’re with Russian interests.
“But the billionaire Trump has declined to release his, arguing that his tax returns for the past several years are being audited”.

“He refuses to do what every other presidential candidate in decades has done and release his tax returns”, Hillary Clinton said during a speech in MI.
