Russell Westbrook: Derrick Rose Looks Like His Old Self

At one point, Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook were the standard bearers of insanely athletic point guards.

The Bulls will play nine home games between November 30 and December. 18, with just one road contest (at Boston) sandwiched in there. After skipping out on the mandatory Team USA minicamp this week, Jerry Colangelo announced that Rose will not be a part of the 2016 roster and isn’t under consideration for a spot as a reserve. According to Westbrook, Rose is looking like his old self again.

Honestly, I think Love had no choice but to put Rose on this list after what he did to Irving during last year’s preseason game in Columbus and what he did to teammate Iman Shumpert during the waning moments of Game 4 between the Bulls and Cavaliers back in June. “Like Russell said (of Rose), everything is back to where it used to be”.

Rose isn’t just blowing off the Team USA minicamp, as he’s avoiding it to make sure he can represent Chicago in the National Basketball Association rather than his country in the Olympics. That combined with the fact that Rose has been hurt a lot and didn’t show up to this minicamp likely spells the end for him. There’s no reason he’s not going to have a good season. Rose didn’t look fully healthy last season but he is working on getting back to the MVP version of himself so he can help lead the Bulls deep into the playoffs. Any Rose, Bulls and National Basketball Association fan will accept Rose being able to match Westbrook’s acceleration.
