Republicans near Trump breaking point
“I think people that really want to vote, they’re gonna just get up and vote for Trump”.

Democrats are also imagining that Trump could drag down GOP incumbents in suburban districts in Minnesota, New Jersey and California, and that he inspires so many Latinos to vote against him in states like Texas that even more seats are put in play. But Trump initially doubled down on this remarks, repeating the claim several times without any sense he was joking.
“Early voting in OH starts in a few weeks, there’s a 45-day window for absentee voters, so mid-September would probably be the latest the RNC could redeploy assets and have any real impact”, an RNC member told Politico privately.
The team is tasked with the impossible: Sell the Republican Party to black voters in the era of Donald Trump.
All of this is happening while a few Republicans in Congress have officially declined to support Donald Trump for President.
Earlier this week, the Republican National Committee hired three new staffers to assist with African American outreach.
We look at where the race stands now with Robert Costa.
“We believe that Donald Trump’s divisiveness, recklessness, incompetence, and record-breaking unpopularity risk turning this election into a Democratic landslide”, read a draft text of the letter to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, which was obtained by the Politico website.
Following a private meeting between Trump’s campaign and the RNC, which Trump himself was not slated to attend, Priebus took the stage in Erie, Pa., to introduce his party’s nominee – an unusual cameo in any election cycle. The electorate he must reach to win goes beyond the GOP base yearning for a populist, off-beat and sometimes off-color candidate like Trump. “He’s going to save our country”.
JUDY WOODRUFF: And so what sort of pressure, Robert, is there on the Republican Party, on the leadership of the party to either work with Donald Trump or to distance themselves from him?
Trump is holding a pair of fundraisers in La Crosse and Milwaukee on Tuesday. It is named Make Massachusetts Great Again – a riff from Trump’s “Make America Great Again” that also repurposes Baker’s 2014 campaign slogan.
Gov. Scott Walker was previously scheduled to be in Colorado on Tuesday as part of a Republican governors’ panel at the Aspen Institute.
Unfortunately for Democrats, there just aren’t enough competitive districts for any serious challenge to Ryan’s speakership.
Trump has slipped in opinion polls, and anxious Republican Party leaders have urged him to stop making off-the-cuff inflammatory statements that generate blanket, often negative, media coverage and distract from efforts to highlight what they see as Clinton’s many shortcomings. Any Republican or conservative who does not support the GOP nominee might as well join former liberal Connecticut Republican Congressman Chris Shays and formally endorse Hillary Clinton.
The Clintons are releasing their 2015 filings on Friday. The campaign has staff in both, and Clinton’s running mate, Virginia Sen.
The campaign says the Kaines have donated 7.5 percent of their income to charity over the last decade.
The move flies in the face of recent trends set by GOP presidential candidates. Trump also has said his taxes are no one’s business and that they reveal little.
The Clintons have disclosed returns for every year since 1977.
Clinton is describing a typical day on the campaign trail in the launch of her campaign’s podcast, “With Her”. And once, in an attempt to prove the globe wasn’t really warming, said Greenland got its name because “it was actually green at one point”.
Trump has criticized Clinton’s stamina in recent weeks.
The Clinton interview was conducted Tuesday in Miami with Max Linsky, a Clinton supporter who hosts a podcast.
“Donald Trump is authentic”. It was Trump’s latest move to aggressively enforce terms of a nondisclosure agreement that he requires almost every employee in his businesses and campaign to sign.
Trump, the Manhattan billionaire, consistently includes NY among the 15 states on which he’s focusing.
The maps paid immediate dividends in 2012, when Barack Obama was re-elected.
“I meant he’s (Obama) the founder of ISIS. I do”. He tweeted after Trump’s national convention speech that he would “always defend liberty against fear-mongering politicians”.
Trump seems to have missed the memo. Turnout in NY was 64.9 percent in the 2012 presidential race and produced a slightly narrower gap among voters who cast ballots: Democratic President Barack Obama received 4.2 million votes to Republican nominee Mitt Romney’s 2.4 million votes.
At a rally Thursday in Florida, Trump, who normally only speaks about winning, admitted he is having a “tremendous problem” in reliably red Utah. “They’re false, they’re deceptive, and they know they’re false”, said Trump last week in New Hampshire.

But the general election is quite different.
