Clinton last joined Biden in Scranton in October 2008.
In between epic Biden-isms of “look folks”, and “that’s a bunch of malarkey”, Biden touted Clinton’s qualifications for the White House while also repeatedly ripping Trump’s proposals as “profoundly wrong” and “un-American”. The vice president plans to call Donald Trump the most uninformed presidential nominee in history.
Donald Trump says a key component of his foreign policy would be “halting” the spread of “radical Islamic terrorism” by limiting their access to the Internet.
“How can there be pleasure in division and “You’re fired”?”
Clinton said wherever Biden goes “he’s always the same guy”. Biden said he’s “not about character assassination”, but felt compelled to condemn Trump’s demeanor. Biden spent his early days here before his family’s economic struggles prompted a move to Delaware; Clinton’s father was born here and worked for a time at a lace mill. “Welcome home” signs dotted the crowd – 3,000 people attended, according to the campaign.
Serbia’s opposition Serb Radical Party (SRS) has announced it will stage a protest over the visit of U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, B92 reports.
While Clinton and Biden tried to appeal to Scranton residents with the rally, many in the crowd had traveled there from outside the city.
Clinton had lost the Democratic presidential nomination that year to Barack Obama, and Biden was Obama’s running mate.
In a speech in OH, the Republican presidential nominee will argue the country needs to work with anyone that shares that mission, regardless of other ideological and strategic disagreements. “I would’ve thrown my body in front of him to keep him from going if the judgement was based on Trump’s decision”.
Clinton and Biden have had a lengthy rivalry despite both having served in Obama’s cabinet. He officially declined a bid in October, five months after his son, Beau, died from brain cancer.
Trump has made this region a focal point of his general election strategy and is banking on the populist economic message that helped propel him to the top during the primaries to win him independents and Reagan Democrats on Election Day.
But on Clinton’s behalf, he gave a determined performance Monday.
Today Clinton will hit Trump on the topic, he campaign says, and note that every modern Oval Office candidate has made the documents public, including Richard Nixon when he was also under audit.
“Johnny’s not switching”, Biden recalled his aunt saying.
In a statement released ahead of the rally, Clinton affirmed her support for the vice president’s passion project.
Despite past differences, however, Biden will be a valuable surrogate for Clinton, particularly in Rust Belt states like Pennsylvania and Ohio.
