While it hasn’t been confirmed that it was for sure fans’ reactions that caused the commotion, a Port Authority Police Department spokesman said the incident was “not a hoax”, according to The Huffington Post.

All affected terminals at the NY airport were evacuated and searched after reports of gunfire spread panic Sunday evening. Deutsche Lufthansa AG canceled a flight to Frankfurt.
Hundreds of bags and suitcases were left behind as passengers ran out of the airport.
Law enforcement officials evacuated that sections of the airport and conducted a thorough search.
One video showed startled travelers scrambling for cover as a team of police officers swept through the terminal, weapons drawn, shouting for people to get down on the ground.
Panic spread quickly through the crowd as police ordered people to lie on the ground, then evacuated them through corridors leading outside to the tarmac.
“All terminals searched & cleared.Negative results”.
The airport starting resuming normal operations several hours after the initial reports of gunshots.
Wedin said in an earlier tweet that police officials from New York City and the Port Authority, which also operates and manages airports in New Jersey, were clearing the departure areas at Terminal 1 and 8 at JFK.
“There is nobody shot”.
Cummings said the shots could have been blanks.
“Preliminary investigation does not indicate shots were fired at JFK”. There are no injuries.
