India pokes Pakistan where it hurts, Modi discuss atrocities in PoK

Giving an insight into the violence that has been taking place in Kashmir for the last 34 days, Baig said it was different from the past episodes like in 2010.

At the all-party meeting held to discuss the ongoing unrest in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, Aug 12, said that Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Ladakh are integral parts of India.

A day after Pakistan said it wanted an exclusive dialogue with India on Kashmir, India responded saying it was ready for talks – but only on “relevant issues” that include cross-border terrorism and follow-up on the terror attacks in Mumbai and Pathankot.

The Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to glean information about the “pitiable conditions in PoK” from migrants from that part of Kashmir in all parts of the world and share it with worldwide community.

The Government’s efforts include reaching out to the civil society and speed up measures to integrate Kashmir’s youth with the State’s economic activities.

The advisor said that while our relations with China are time-tested, we would also like to maintain cordial relations with the United States. “The Government expects constructive support from all Opposition parties on this”.

He said that the conference discussed a number of diplomatic initiatives being taken and it was decided that Pakistan should invite India for a dialogue on Kashmir issue.

Sartaj Aziz said that the Envoys held in-depth discussions on the global and regional issues and agreed that the key elements of the foreign policy of Pakistan were pointing in the correct direction. The Arab League countries were also urged to call upon “India to immediately stop the bloodshed and massacre in Kashmir and implement the pending UNSC resolutions”.
