Multiple Grammy Award-winning singer Adele says she turned down an offer to perform at the 2017 Super Bowl half-time show. Actually, it’s not a rumor.

So while Adele was quite vocal that she wasn’t about to do the Super Bowl Halftime show, the National Football League and Pepsi have struck back with a statement of their own, reports Billboard.

“We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show”. That show is not about music … I don’t dance or anything like that.

On Sunday, they took their cause to Twitter after news broke that Adele kindly declined the invite to perform in Houston at the annual event. “Stupid rumors. They’re so fucking stupid”, she said.

Previous half-time shows have included a long list of famous names such as Beyonce, Madonna, Prince, Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones. The NFL reportedly hoped Adele, a British native whose music is popular with young audiences, would give foreign and cross-age appeal to the event. So, it’s little surprise that Super Bowl would try to court Adele, with her worldwide and age-spanning appeal. We know that she might not put on a visual spectacular like Beyoncé, Madonna, or Katy Perry, but we’re sure that it would have been an awesome show. “They thought I was going to announce it at the Super Bowl”.

Beyonce, Chris Martin of Coldplay and Bruno Mars performed on America’s biggest stage past year.

Adele shouldn’t worry about not being able to dance though because neither can Chris Martin of Coldplay who performed this year and he just flanked himself with two of the best dancers in the world. “So maybe I’ll do it then”, she said.
