Cowboys sign Travis Frederick to long-term deal

Per Rapoport, the deal is worth $56.4 million ($18.2 million fully guaranteed, $28.2 million in total guarantees), per a source informed of the contract.

Frederick would still have been under his rookie contract until 2018, but is now locked up with the Cowboys until 2023.

“Obviously there’s risk involved any time you step out on the field, whether it’s practice or a game, so to have the security of having it done before I stepped on the field in case anything happened was important”, Frederick said. Widely panned as a first-round pick in the 2013 draft, Frederick has silenced his skeptics and then some.

At 25 years old, this is both a great deal for Frederick and for the Cowboys in the long-term.

I’m told Travis Frederick has agreed to terms with the #Cowboys.

Talks with Frederick’s agent, Joe Panos, picked up in earnest last week when he visited the Cowboys at their Oxnard, California, training camp facility.

Travis serves as the Center of the Cowboys dominant Offensive Line, whom I’ve affectionately nicknamed the “Space Cowboys” by the way, and is an integral part of their effectiveness in the run game. It started with Smith in 2014, continued now with the deal for Frederick. Left guard Zack Martin was the team’s top selection in 2014.

Frederick has started every game of his National Football League career over his first three seasons.
