Louisiana Flooding Far From Over Despite Expected Respite From Rain

Thousands of homes were flooded and destroyed in Louisiana and along the Gulf coast.

Shoes, children’s toys and household items floated through knee-deep water outside his home.

Shanita Angrum, 32, said she called 911 on Friday morning when she realized flood waters had trapped her family in their home. An officer arrived and carried her six-year-old daughter to safety.

“Snakes were everywhere”, she told Associated Press. “The whole time I was just praying for God to make sure me and my family were OK”.

First, there are scattered pockets of rain in the forecast for the area this week. Several more inches fell Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The heavy rain began Friday, with 6 to 10 inches falling on southeast parts of the state. There were at least five deaths reported in Louisiana because of the rushing floodwaters. He was rescued from his home by boat over the weekend.
