Nephew of ex-Senate Chairman gunned down in armed clash

Resulting this firing incident around 0325 hours near St#3 Old Margalla Road F/10-3 Islamabad, one of the auto occupant Barrister Fahad Malik, stated to be nephew of former Chairman Senate Muhammadmian Soomro and son of Malik Sohrab, succumbed to his injuries while anther occupant Malik Tariq sustained bullet injured who is stated to be out of danger. At this point, Barrister Fahad also arrived to assist the woman, but did not press any charges.
Police said they brought six to seven persons from the coffee shop to the Shalimar Police Station, where Fahad and others mediated between them.
In the meantime, supporters of the man who had allegedly been assaulted by the woman’s bodyguards also reached the police station and were enraged by the condition of their comrade.
The clash took the life of Fahad Malik, 35, and left one injured, when the other party opened fire at their vehicle at the service road.
The accused fled the scene.
One wounded man was shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in a critical state.
Police were called in to avoid a clash at the hospital, they said, adding that after initial treatment, the injured men were whisked away by their supporters, for fear of more attacks.
Police said that the actual target of the attacker was Tariq Malik. Reportedly the accused were residents of E-7. The victim’s family could not be reached for comment.
The police have not registered the case against the accused till filing of this report as the victim’s family had submitted a written application to the police high-ups.
According to police, dispute over a girl was resulted in the incident.

The cause of the firing incident is yet to be established and police inquiring into the incident, police sources said.
