Canadian Andre De Grasse took home bronze in one of the greatest sprint races in Olympic history on Sunday.
De Grasse set a new personal best with a time of 9.91. While Bailey, who won gold for Canada in the 100m event 20 years ago in Atlanta, gave valuable insight, the highlight of his TV appearance was watching him watch the race live and celebrate as Canada’s Andre De Grasse crossed the line in third place.
Star Canadian sprinter Andre De Grasse has cruised to the semifinals of the men’s 100 metres at the Rio Olympics.
Many people noted that it was a “passing of the torch” between Bolt and De Grasse.
Canada goes into Monday at the Rio Games with 13 medals -2 gold, 2 silver and 9 bronze.
In an televised interview with CBC in Canada, Bolt said that De Grasse is the runner to look out for in the future and I believe he’s right. The community had gathered in Markham Olympic Square to watch their hero make the podium last night.

Running was not De Grasse’s original ambition. Understandably, Canadians reacted to De Grasse winning his first Olympic medal in his debut at the Games.
