It happened at 19000 SE Kokomo Lane, just off of SE Island Way, at 9:20 p.m.

A suspect is in custody after Martin County deputies reportedly found him on top of one of two victims, biting off pieces of his face.

A K-9 arrived, biting the suspect, but was still unable to get him off the victim.

They used a stun gun, but only after use of great force from every law enforcement officer available could they remove him.

That victim, the homeowner, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The neighbor who called 911 was taken to an area hospital and is expected to recover, police said. The names of the victims were not released, pending notification of their families. The man’s wife was found dead in the garage. He was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment. The sheriff would only say the suspect and the deceased couple knew each other.

A neighbor who tried to intervene was also stabbed.

Flakka is a designer drug that can be snorted, smoked, injected or swallowed, and has been seen in a large number of cases of freaky and uncontrollable behavior in Florida in the past year.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to find out if it was Flakka”, Snyder said, but that won’t be known until toxicology reports are in.
